We approach Photography as a visual language. It is about creating fresh and unique imagery that have a sense of authenticity and aesthetics. If we can engage a viewer in a conversation with an image whether it be on an aesthetic, conceptual, emotional, or subliminal level - when a viewer stops thinking about whether an image is contrived or not, but rather what the image is saying to them, then the image 'just works'. Of course, getting the images to 'just work' involves a lot of work before the shoot begins.
During pre-production planning and the shoot itself, we take care of many practical and technical considerations, such as whether to shoot in-studio or on-location, logistics and permits, having the right lighting and camera equipment, styling, and set elements, and making sure that people are comfortable and able to produce their best creative work. For the kind of shoots that we do, it really is about the people and the talent that they put into the production, and we go to great lengths to present the work in the best way possible.
Our standards for technical image quality stem from our extensive background in commercial and editorial photography - a lot of our images were meant to be (and are) published as magazine covers or double page spreads, and our technical output caters to the requirements of professional Editors and high-quality glossy reproduction. Furthermore, we want to create 'Fine Art' in every project we take on and imagine the images hung as large-format 24x26 inch prints in an Art Gallery, and make that both a technical and artistic standard to aim for.
It's a lot to think about for something that culminates into the moment of pressing the shutter release (and the post-processing that goes on after that), but we take pride in our work, and hope you enjoy viewing it as much as we do creating it.
